Many Singaporeans call the East-West line (EWL) the green line due to its iconic green colour along the Singapore MRT map.
The green line, or EWL, was first built in 1990, spanning between Pasir Ris to Boon Lay MRT stations. It was the second MRT line in Singapore to be fully operational, following the North-South Line (NSL). Measuring 57km today, it is also the longest MRT line in Singapore.

3. Queenstown MRT Station
Queenstown MRT station is located on a traffic island along Commonwealth Avenue. It derives its name from Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1952.
Here, you’ll find a pleasant mix of old and new, which contributes to the richness of the estate. As the first satellite town built in Singapore, there are still low-rise walk-up public housing blocks of not more than three rooms. Yet, being so close to central Singapore, many high-rise properties command high prices here, not only for the town’s location but also for their proximity to popular schools in the area.
In addition, while you can savour the flavours of yesterday at longtime hawker stalls, Queenstown is also home to hipster cafes and other signs of gentrification and modernity.
