Comment on Tenancy agreement and security deposit in Singapore: What renters must know by Tushar

Hi - I am halfway through my 2-year TA (effective Dec 1, 2021 to Nov 30, 2023). I received a message from my landlord that I need to vacate the place within the next 2 months. The reason provided is that he needs to move back in. Is it legally allowed by the landlord to do this? Please note that TA does not have an Early Termination Clause (or equivalent). It does have a diplomatic clause though. What sounds more fishy is that he has requested me to keep the agent (it was the landlords agent) out of this discussion.

Comment on Guide to breaking lease and early termination of tenancy agreement in Singapore by Tharindu

We signed a tenancy agreement about 45days ahead. At this moment still I have 33 days to start new tenancy which is for 2years and 2months deposit already given at the time signing the agreement. The current house which I lived for last 4years contact ending today. And landlord impressed the way we have used the house and invited us to extend the tenancy after one month break period.. current house is more convenient for commuting and all aspects. New house lease period starts in another 33 days.. can I cancel newly signed agreement? What would be the consequence? Please help

If you want to charge such exorbitant prices for your flats, at least build them properly. Check the flats (apartments) in Seoul and Tokyo. They are built to within earthquakes and weather changes from - 10°c to 40°c and some are still cheaper than subsidised 4 room flats when new. How many of us paid so much of their life savings and end up getting trashy apartments that need repairs and maintenance shortly after getting keys?

In reply to Junji. Hi Junji, for bank loan, the downpayment during lease signing should be 5% cash + 15% cash/CPF. During key collection, the downpayment will be 5% cash/CPF. We've updated the figures on our article. Yes, lease signing will be done while construction of the property is ongoing.
