Guocoland unveils two new senior appointments

Andrew Chew will serve as Group Chief Financial Officer for GuocoLand and Valerie Wong as Group General Manager, Asset Management.

GuocoLand has announced two new senior appointments, naming Andrew Chew as its new Group Chief Financial Officer and Valerie Wong as Group General Manager, Asset Management.

Chew will succeed Group CFO Gregory Sim, who will relinquish his role to pursue personal interests with effect on 31 December.

Chew joined GuocoLand in 2011 and currently serves as CFO of the group’s Singapore operations. Prior to joining GuocoLand, he worked with GL Limited, which was then known as GuocoLeisure and owned by Hong Kong-listed Guoco Group.

In his new role, Chew will be responsible “for all financial matters including financial reporting and operations, corporate finance, taxation, risk management and treasury functions”, said GuocoLand in an SGX filing on Wednesday (22 December).

He will also be involved in driving the digitalisation and sustainability efforts of GuocoLand.

“Andrew has deep knowledge in both finance as well as real estate operations, a rare combination for Group CFO. He will play an integral role in GuocoLand’s future growth strategies,” said GuocoLand CEO Cheng Hsing Yao.

Meanwhile, Wong will take on a newly created position, wherein she will oversee the group’s growing investment properties portfolio.

Prior to her appointment, Wong served as General Manager of the group’s Singapore commercial operations. She has over 25 years of experience in asset management, spearheading the launch of Guoco Tower’s premium Grade A offices.

Wong also led the placemaking efforts at Guoco Tower integrated development and was a founding member of the Discover Tanjong Pagar Business Improvement District initiative.

“With the upcoming Guoco Midtown in Singapore and soon-to-be-completed Guoco Changfeng City in Shanghai, the Group’s investment portfolio is set to grow. Having successfully established GuocoLand’s investment business in Singapore, Valerie will have an enlarged role looking at the Group’s investment assets and business,” said Cheng.
