HDB executive maisonettes are a rare breed in Singapore’s property market. Essentially two-storey HDB flats, they are no longer in production, having been (somewhat) replaced in 1995 by the executive condominium scheme (EC).
Ranging between 1,527 sq ft to 1,700 sq ft, maisonette flats come in a few types: five-room maisonettes, executive maisonettes and penthouse maisonettes. If you’re looking for any, they can mostly be found in mature estates such as Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Bedok, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Pasir Ris, Queenstown, Serangoon and Sembawang.
Aside from being significantly more spacious than regular HDB flats, executive maisonette flats feature unique designs that set them apart and make them highly covetable. The bedrooms are located on the upper floor while the living and dining area is located on the lower floor, ensuring plenty of privacy. They also typically have three bathrooms and balconies. As their name indicates, penthouse maisonettes are located on the highest floor and come with an open terrace with views of the surroundings.
With more space to live in, it’s no wonder HDB maisonette flats remain in demand among home-buyers. More space also means more room to let your creative side out in designing your desired home.
