Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How said a total of 46 two-room Flexi flats, 273 three-room flats, 601 four-room flats, 597 five-room/ 3Generation flats, and four Executive flats have been booked as of 22 February 2021 under the open booking system.
A total of 1,521 flats have been sold under the open booking scheme since its launch in June 2019, revealed Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How in Parliament on Tuesday (2 March).
He was responding to MP Gan Thiam Poh who asked about the number of HDB flats sold under the open booking scheme since its launch.
The open booking scheme allows home seekers “to apply for a flat online, and get their flat selection appointment on a first-come-first-served basis, which can be as early as the next working day”.
Tan said a total of 46 two-room Flexi flats, 273 three-room flats, 601 four-room flats, 597 five-room/ 3Generation flats, and four Executive flats have been booked as of 22 February 2021 under the open booking system.
Gan also asked whether HDB would consider injecting a fresh supply of flats more frequently as well as increase the number of flats available under the scheme.
To this, Tan shared that HDB, at present, “suspends open booking twice a year to inject a fresh supply of flats. The majority of flats offered under the open booking come from the pool of flats that remain unselected after the twice-yearly Sale of Balance Flats exercises”.
He added that HDB has been exploring ways to offer more flats via open booking.
HDB, for instance, has ceased the Re-Offer of Balance Flat (ROF) exercises since February 2020 so that more unselected flats from the Sale of Balance Flat (SBF) exercises can be offered directly via open booking, he said.
